Welcome and Connect Others to Church
Let mutual love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it. Hebrews 13:1-2
How are you connected to Christ and to others through Baker Memorial UMC?
The answer to this question determines your ability to connect others to Christ and others through the church. We receive new visitors almost every week. When you run into one of them, help them connect by engaging them in conversation and asking them friendly questions about their interests. If you find a connection between your interests and theirs, invite them to share your connection. If you are a part of a Sunday morning Recharge group, ask them to attend with you. Do you come to the first Wednesday evening Faith, Food, and Fun events? Invite them to come to the next one with you. Do you enjoy the daily devotionals? Help them sign up right away using their smartphone. If your connection is to attend worship faithfully each week, invite them to come early or stay late next week and give them a tour of the building. There are many possibilities.
A visitor is most likely to stay and grow in Christ if they make six connections in six months. You can be one of them, and you can help them find the others. Smile at each person you meet, introduce yourself by name even the second or third time you meet someone because they have a lot more names to learn than you do, ask people about their interests, and then help them connect to a place they might fit.
Maybe you’d like to be part of the newly developed Connections Team. This team is looking for people to greet on Sunday morning, follow-up with visitors, prepare a fellowship hour, and connect with some of the groups that utilize our building.
