Weddings
"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." —1 Corinthians 13:13Planning Your Day
We love weddings at Baker Memorial United Methodist Church and hope we can help make your special day a blessing that will last a lifetime. A lot of the details about planning your wedding are available in the wedding planning guide available for download from this page. When you are ready to reserve your date, you can do that by filling out the wedding reservation form also available from this page with approval.
We allot three hours for each wedding. This provides time for preparations (1 hour), the ceremony (½-1 hour), and post-wedding events (balance of the 3 hours). To create enough space for ceremonies taking place before or after, this time frame must be followed. However, if there are no other events that day, you may be able to extend your time.
Our pastors would love to officiate your wedding. However, if you have an ordained clergyperson who would like to officiate let us know! We do require that officiants be ordained in a recognized Christian church tradition that screens and licenses applicants. There are many ways for others to participate in the ceremony at the discretion of the officiating pastor.
After reserving your day, you will be connected to a church wedding coordinator who will help you navigate the process until the big day arrives. A $300 deposit is required to hold your date. This will be requested, once your reserved date is verified.
As of May 2, 2024, the United Methodist Church affirms “marriage as a sacred, lifelong covenant that brings two people of faith (adult man and adult woman of consenting age or two adult persons of consenting age) into a union of one another and into deeper relationship with God and the religious community.”
